How to Ship Imported Excavators and Other Heavy Equipment from China

China is one of the world’s largest machinery exporters, with total exports reaching US$3.18 trillion. It has some of the most advanced production lines in the world. The sheer scale of China’s manufacturing industry means there are many suppliers to choose from. If you are in the construction industry or like to use suitable machinery to work on your small farm, you may need to import an excavator from China and transport it to your country. So how are excavators imported from China and shipped to your country?

However, transporting these oversized heavy machines from China to their final destination can be a complicated process. Documents required to import heavy equipment such as excavators from China

To import an excavator from China, several documents are required. Anyone who wants to import machinery from China or anywhere in the world must have four documents. they are:

Arrival Notice: A shipping agent can help you prepare an arrival notice. This arrival notification will be delivered to the consignee or recipient (you). An Arrival Notice is a document that allows the importer of machinery or any other goods to transport it to its destination. Arrival notifications also include information such as pickup fees, the number of units shipped, and the items contained in each unit.

Bill of Lading: A bill of lading is a document issued by the carrier to the agent, master, or owner of the cargo. This document serves as a promise to pay. It also provides information on the item’s destination, shipping method, and estimated arrival time.

Packing list: It is a packing list issued by the shipper or freight forwarder. The packing list contains all the information on the invoice for imported products, etc. CBP reviews packing lists and invoices before goods clear customs for shipment.

Learn about machinery import tariffs from China

Import duties are taxes paid on items shipped to another country (such as China), in this case to another country (such as the United States). This duty is paid by the importer of the goods (you) upon importation. The importer of record is usually the person who purchased the goods or the customs broker working on behalf of the purchaser, depending on the agreement entered into by the purchaser.

Import duties on small excavators from China can be calculated using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). HTS is the global system used by the World Trade Organization to determine various tariffs.

For reference, import duties on goods imported from China range from 3% to 25%. If you work with a licensed customs broker, then he/she will help you determine the import duties for your mini excavator.
